About Tony Aly

I was born in Toronto and grew up between cultures — Canada, the Middle East, and the United States.

I studied anthropology at the University of Virginia. Anthropology teaches you one thing clearly: systems shape people.

I became an early web developer in the early days of the internet. Then an SEO. Then a founder. Then an operator. Then a builder of real-world infrastructure.

Over the years I've:

  • Built marketplaces
  • Launched software platforms
  • Operated restaurants
  • Structured real estate plays
  • Coordinated remote development teams
  • Rebuilt products from scratch
  • Wound down companies that no longer made sense
  • Started again

I prefer building to talking.

I prefer long arcs to quick wins.

I prefer systems over hacks.
